Mixed media glass collages

My collages are inspired by the play of light, air, water and movement with the natural world and everyday objects around me. I’m fascinated by how this play constantly creates changes in the colours, textures and shapes we see.

The medium of glass enables me to mimic the qualities of water and its impact on our emotions by changes in light reflections according to the time of day and the position and movement of the viewer. New Zealand Paua shell, Mother of Pearl, jewellery wire, stone and hardwood complement the qualities of the glass.

Whilst my works try to capture a brief and precious moment, all edges are worn to give the impression of glass being transformed by water over time, and to make the pieces almost tactile objects.

All pieces are handmade and unique. Though designs can be recreated, no two pieces are ever the same.
